This study includes a comprehensive assessment of the situation of urban climate finance in the three countries of South Africa, Chile and India with a specific focus on the partner cities of the Cities Fit for Climate Change (CFCC) project: eThekwini (Durban), Santiago de Chile and Chennai.

Recommendations are included for improving municipal/city access to funding instruments for climate change related work and for better integrating climate change into planning mechanisms. The main target audience of the study are urban practitioners, policy makers and the research community in the field of climate finance and urban governance.

The CFCC project is commissioned by the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Building and Nuclear Safety (BMUB). It forms part of the International Climate Initiative (IKI).
