An in-depth study on the return intentions of displaced communities in Nigeria’s war-torn Borno State.

The conflict between the Nigerian Armed Forces and Islamic extremists Boko Haram has left over 20,000 people killed over the past nine years. Being a highly volatile and difficult-to-access context, little is known about the intentions of the 1.8 million people internally displaced in Nigeria’s northeast. The report Not ready to return is one of the largest studies on the plans for return of displaced people in Borno State - the epicentre of the crisis. It investigates if communities are ready to return home, where they will go and when. This document is a summary of the key findings and recommendations of the report.
